All passengers, regardless of their nationality or place of residence, can import, in addition to their personal effects, items up to a maximum total value of one thousand USD ($1,000.00) each time ther travel to Cuba and must pay customs duties based on the total value assigned to them

In reality, there are two Progressive Tariffs: One applies to the first importation for permanent resident passengers, and the other applies to all other cases. In both cases, the first 50.99 USD are exempt from payment, and for the remaining amount, a percentage of the imported value is charged, up to the limit of 1,000.00 USD.

For permanent resident passengers in Cuba making their first importation within the calendar year (January 1st to December 31st), the tariff establishes that:

1.- For permanent resident passengers in Cuba who import for the first time within the calendar year (January 1 to December 31), the rate establishes that:

From 51.00 USD to 500.99 USD in value 4%
From 501.00 USD to 1 000.00 USD in value 8%

2.- For non-resident passengers and permanent residents in Cuba, from their second importation within the calendar year the rate establishes that

From 51.00 USD to 500.99 USD in value 100%
From 501.00 USD to 1 000.00 USD in value 200 %

Althought the result of this calculation is given in USD, the final amount that must be payed for customs duties have to be founded in cuban pesos (CUP) by multiplying the result in USD by 24.

In cases where no customs duties need to be paid, the passenger can choose to use the Green Channel to exit the Terminal.
